Tallit (or talith) contains two Hebrew words. “Tal” meaning "tent" and “ith” meaning "little." Thus, tallit means “little tent.”  A tallit טַלִּית is a fringed garment, traditionally worn as a prayer shawl by religious Jews. The tallit has special twined and knotted fringes known as tzitzit attached to its four corners. The tallit is draped over the shoulders like a cape, with two corners at the front of the wearer, and two at the back.

According to Matthew 6:5-8, many Hebraic minds view the prayer closet as the prayer shawl or tallit. This is not a closet or a room in a house. Not a physical place but a posture of the human heart towards God. For more information visit (https://www.thejoshlink.com/article287.htm)
